Effortless Hairstyles for the New Year

Change can sometimes be hard and uncertain. If you’re the kind of person that needs a little nudge to get motivated, looking forward to the New Year may be just what you need to encourage you to try a new hairstyle for 2022.

To kick off the new year, we’re seeing an overall continuance of the effortless, natural hairstyles that we’ve seen this past year but with two clear differences - many of these looks are either sleek and smooth or offer a lot of layers and texture.

At Ellie K, we’ve put together a list of some of the hottest blunt cuts that you’ll want to try this year.

Textured Layers. We’ve seen a lot of cuts with textured layers as that trend isn’t going to disappear anytime soon. These layers are versatile, movable, and look fabulous with both long and short hair. This is going to prove to be one of the easiest hairstyle trends of the season.

Wispy Bangs. Bangs have earned their spot among hairstyle favorites this past year. If you’re not quite ready to go for the bold look of curtain bangs or fringe bangs, try the soft piecey style of wispy bangs.

Laidback, Messy Braids. The relaxed, carefree look is staying in 2022. Whether you choose a loose French braid, a fishtail, or any other type of braid, the secret is to keep it loose and relaxed without being disheveled.

Blunt Bob vs Blunt Lob. Whether you choose the short classic bob or keep longer locks with a classic lob, both of these stylish blunt cuts can be worn sleek and smooth or with your natural texture, the choice is yours!

Long Layered Cut. Not really to lose your long luscious locks? Layers can completely transform your hair by adding movement and creating shape without losing length. If you wear your hair up, be sure to tell your Ellie K stylist so that they can add long layers to still accommodate an updo.

Shaggy Bob. Think classic short bob with lots of texture and even bangs. This cute style goes great with wavy or curly hair to not only give it dimension but to frame your face with all that gorgeous texture.

Shoulder-Length Shag. Love the look of the shag but aren’t ready to go as short as a bob? We’re seeing more women shorten their shag up to shoulder-length so that all those layers are more defined and look chic with lots of movement and texture. This style looks amazing with or without bangs and in just about any hair texture.
